Temple Opens (Nirmalyam Darshan)
The sanctum doors open to auspicious Conch sounds. Devotees view the sacred Chaturbāhu idol adorned in the previous night's fragrant garlands and sandal paste before the day's ablutions begin.
Oil Abhishek & Vakacharthu
Sacred gingelly oil abhishekam followed by the gentle cleansing of the Pathalanjana Shila deity with herbal Vaka powder (Albizia lebbeck bark), bathing the idol in pristine spiritual radiance.
Usha Pooja (Dawn Worship)
The dawn pooja where fresh butter (Venna), sweet jaggery naivedyam, and warm Aval (beaten rice) are lovingly offered to Unnikrishnan amidst Vedic mantras.
Ethirettu Pooja & Morning Seeveli
The utsava vigraha (golden procession idol) is carried atop a caparisoned temple elephant around the inner courtyard three times, accompanied by traditional Chenda Melam and temple percussion.
Pantheeradi Pooja
Conducted when the sun casts a shadow 12 feet long (Pantheeradi). Elaborate Vedic rites, sandal paste adornment, and holy flower archana are performed in the inner sanctum.
Ucha Pooja (Grand Noon Worship)
The most elaborate daytime pooja featuring the offering of the world-famous Guruvayur Palpayasam (sweetened milk porridge) and traditional cooked rice naivedyams.
Temple Closes (Afternoon Interval)
The sanctum doors close for the afternoon interval. The temple premises remain closed until 04:30 PM while the deity rests.

Temple Reopens (Evening Darshan)
The temple gates reopen for evening pilgrims. Devotees gather in the cool courtyard for darshan as the golden evening light embraces the temple.
Deeparadhana (Sacred Lamp Ceremony)
The most visually captivating moment of the day. The sanctum and the 10,000 brass lamps of the Vilakkumadam blaze with pure camphor and oil flames as temple conches and bells reverberate.
Athazha Pooja (Night Worship)
The night feast offered to Unnikrishnan with sweet Neypayasam (ghee pudding), cooked rice, and betel leaves, accompanied by soft Vedic chants.
Athazha Seeveli (Night Procession)
The caparisoned elephant carries the golden deity on its final circumambulation of the night, glowing beneath the light of traditional multi-wick torches (Theevatti).
Thrippuka (Sacred Herbal Incense)
A rare and sacred ritual where divine herbal powders (Ashtagandham, sandalwood, camphor, and rare gums) are burned inside the sanctum, filling the entire temple with soothing fragrance.
Temple Closes for the Night
The sanctum doors are securely locked until 03:00 AM the following morning. Devotees depart in quiet peace.
